In 5th grade Project-Based Learning, students are part of a group with a focus in one or more parts of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, & Math).
Two groups are highlighted today.
In one group, students are engineering fly fish rods with precision. Next, they will work on the art of fly fishing!
In another, students are using the Scientific Method in an inquiry-based experiment to determine the optimal amount of water in a bottle to successfully land the most bottle flips. Students analyze the data the collected and refine their process. The title of 'bottle-flip master' is the ultimate goal!
Last Spring, we told the third graders to make sure they worked on their multiplication facts over the summer. Anyone who passed all their facts in the month of September was put in for a drawing for a Kindle Fire. We are quite proud of our students and their hard work! 😊 Congratulations to our winner!
We are headed into multi-digit multiplication and long divison.
After testing today, 4th grade students closed down the garden for the season. They harvested pumpkins, gourds, squash, potatoes, and a few late tomatoes. Next week, student will begin learning about the structures of plants that help them to survive!
